Thanks for the subs. We're halfway thru the series. :)

You're welcome. :)
We've made the font thicker so that they're easier to read.
What do you think of them?
Do you prefer the thicker one or the previous one?
(I wish they were a little less thick though.)

I watch it on the THV so I prefer the thicker ones.

thanks for episode 3!

I kinda like the font that was used for the first two episodes more but the new one isn't bad either. Well, it's just a matter of preference but I don't mind watching the rest of the series with the new one. It's hard to please everyone when it comes to typesetting dramas.

While your original one looks pleasing to the eye, the bolded one seems slightly easier to read.

@zooey and chobuki
To be honest, I like the previous one too.
It was Tahoma and I used bold Tahoma this time.
I never had problem reading normal font, but I guess my eyesight got worse recently and I have hard time reading the previous font, so I wondered if you guys also find them hard to read.
I find bold Tahoma a bit ugly, but easier to read.
I wish I could find the font you see on Blue-ray DVD subs. They are easy to read.

I did a bit of googling after reading your post.

Tahoma seems to be the most popular choice for DVD appreciation. If horizontal space is not a concern, then Verdana looks like a good Tahoma substitute.

Other recommended fonts are Alte Haas Grotesk bold, Consolas, Droid Sans, Droid Sans Mono, Lucida Console, Segoe Semibold, Segoe UI, Trebuchet MS, Univers, and Vera Sans Mono.

Sorry for the digression, lol. Back to topic, the font that most DVDs use is Criterion. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

Here's the most used font in Dvd:
tiresias: http://media.smashingmagazine.com/cdn_smash/wp-content/uploads/images/fresh-beautiful-fonts/tiresias.gif
VErdana: http://www.yoursigns.co.uk/images/verdana-font.gif
Tahoma: http://www.fontmarketplace.com/images/products/TAH02-01-01-01-m.jpg
Affluent: http://www.ascenderfonts.com/af/images/art/typodermic/affluent.jpg

I think the most common are Verdana or Tahoma. Is it one of those?

Oops, too late :)

I didn't know Tahoma was one of the popular fonts.
I just tried all fonts I have on my Aegisub, and Tahoma looked the best.
I use Trebuchet MS and Verdana too.
I looked up the fonts chobuki and panda-zedo mentioned. I liked Affluent the best. Too bad Aegisub doesn't have it as default. Not being able to pick a font outside of default is a downside of softsub.

Thanks for your help. :)

i have no problem with the subs. i wasnt aware that there are changes. hehe..

i like this show. lots of things happened every episode. i thought the "chase" was just between the magician and inspector guy. every episode there is a new person being caught.

oh by the way, MrX call it Tax Heaven. and i've read it from Time magazine article typing it as "heaven" also.

@chucks. from what I've read it might be possible to use more fonts with Aegisub but you need to install the font in your OS
http://forum.aegisub.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1115&p=4146&hilit=font#p4146

If I remember well, it's not very complicated. ( 'Haven't used windows for a long time)

something like this?

@jt

I'm sure people who compared Chase as Marusa no Onna on the first episode had realized it's nothing like it.
The drama makes surprising turn.

Looks like "tax heaven" is a common mistake.
I've seen many people typing that way.
But wiki says "haven". It's interesting Time magazine used "heaven." I wonder if it's just a typo or there was a reason behind it.

@panda_zedo
chucks... lol Sounds strong, doesn't it? :p

Thanks for pointing out. :) I've used unique fonts when I worked with Timelessub, but the problem is, those fonts won't show unless it's hardsubbed.
My old comp shows Book Antique which I use for credits on Chase, but my new comp won't recognize it. So depends on computer setting, some font won't show up.
So I have to pick the most common fonts. :(
Thank you for your help though. :)
