It's been a while since the last release and I'm sure some of you are wondering if
we dropped the project, but we're still working on it.
Suzuki sensei is a hard to translate drama, so it's taking more time than I thought it would, but I just want you to know that we still intend to finish it.
We appreciate your patience.
I'm going back to Japan for Christmas and will be back in the middle of January.
I'll resume translating once I get back.

Update on Kita no kuni kara
In case some of avid Kita no kuni kara fan are wondering,
even though I haven't worked on the specials recently, I have intention to
sub all the specials.
It's just that I have been working on the series almost a year, so I wanted a change of pace.
So I took up Suzuki Sensei.
After Suzuki Sensei, I'll resume subbing Kita no kuni kara.

Suzuki Sensei Ep01
I have uploaded subs for the first episode of Suzuki Sensei.
It's not an ordinary school drama. Suzuki Sensei experiments with students
to prove his theory. The drama is serious yet comical.
Hasegawa Hiroki from Second Virgin plays the teacher, and he showed us
a total different side of him as an actor.
The drama is very underrated, but highly appreciated among tv industry.
I hope you will enjoy as much as I and chobuki did.

Catastrophe in Japan
As all know, Japan was hit by a big earthquake last Friday.
Fortunately my family was safe, but I have some friends who are affected and
living in fear.
My shock is beyond description and I'm trying to find a way to support my mother country.
I'm very distracted right now, it'll take longer than usual to release the subs for next episode.
I appreciate your understanding.

Future projects
I've said before I was interested in subbing Kira Kira Hikaru and Furikaereba Yatsugairu if they ever get uploaded on D-addict.
Some people sure have their way to raw, so those raw are available on D-addict now.
But situation on my side has changed and I can't spare much time on subbing as I used to.
Still, I subbed the first episode of Kira Kira Hikaru and I realized there are many autopsy jargon that I can't find on internet. Some actors talking indistinct makes it worse.
One option is to leave those jargon untranslated. Well, my take is if an average Japanese can't understand those words but still be able to enjoy the series, that means those jargon are not that important. But I'm not comfortable with leaving some lines blank like that, so I'm kinda stuck.
That's where I am and I wanted to let people who are wondering about the project know.

This is a fun episode and it shows producers' love to the land and residents.
That's what makes this drama genuine and heart-warming, and that's why
it still touches people's hearts after 30 years.

PS. Anybody watched Shijukunichi no Recipe yet?
The drama has some silly parts, but it's a good drama overall.
Looks like somebody subbed it and released the subs on D-addict.

somebody decided to take it. Not many NHK dramas get subbed.

As you can see on the update box, it's already translated and is in a stage of
editing. The editor has been busy with his real life and hasn't gotten time to work on it, but he's still motivated to finish.
In case he can't finish, there's another editor who is willing to finish it for me.
Either way, I promise you to deliver the subs, although it might not as soon as you hope.

I've found a good review of Kita no kuni kara.

It's really nice to see somebody finds this series interesting as much as I do. :)
I hope more people give it a try. There's a reason why Japanese people still talk about the series, and many comedians imitate the father, Goro.
